Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rainer Schmidt ist seit 2003 Professor für Wirtschaftsinformatik an der Fachhochschule Aalen. Zuvor war er in einer strategischen Unternehmensberatung sowie als Professor an der Berufsakademie Lörrach tätig.
Er promovierte an der Universität Karlsruhe.
